What it means to live abroad in Costa Rica

One of the most popular destinations for those who decide to live abroad is Costa Rica where you can enjoy the sun, ocean warm water and nature. There are people who decide to live abroad and move to Costa Rica just for the winter months, and returned home in the summer, live two worlds and two very different lifestyles, but can especially enjoy the best that offer the overseas without having to break off entirely with the past.

But many choose to live in Costa Rica permanently. In addition to savings in economic terms, Costa Rica attracts those who want to live abroad to reduce the stress level. In Costa Rica, in fact, everything goes more slowly and quietly.

Very often when someone ask the question “where to go and live abroad?” People respond “Costa Rica”. Among the main reasons behind this choice is “peace.” It is indeed a peaceful country, a presidential republic that abolished the army in 1949. In case of necessity United States will intervent.

The beaches are spectacular, both on the Pacific coast and the Caribbean. The climate is tropical, hot and dry. This region is characterized to have a rainy season and a well-defined dry season from December to March, while the rainfall is concentrated in the period from May to October. Usually it rains in the late afternoon and at night.

On the Caribbean coast the climate is rather humid, here the precipitation is more concentrated at night and in the morning at high levels even in the driest months.

Inside, in the area where are the major population centers, the average temperatures fluctuate throughout the year between 14 and 27 degrees.

If you choose to live abroad in Costa Rica, you need to follow a bureaucratic process. Initially, you can stay in Costa Rica for 90 days without a visa, but with a valid passport at least 6 months and an airplane return ticket. If you want to become residents must present a request prolonging the residence permit and then prepare with consular authorities all the documents to obtain a temporary residence in Costa Rica. In order to become permanent residents in Costa Rica you must have benefited from a temporary residence of at least 3 years consecutive. They can become permanent residents also relatives by blood with a Costa Rican citizen and political refugees.

Italians are the third European group, after Spain and Germany, who have chosen to live abroad in Costa Rica.
